Starting off during the Thanksgiving season of 1994, Gobblefest was a one-off day of music consisting of many local bands from the Sydney area of Nova Scotia, to fundraise for the campus and community radio station, Caper Radio CJBU (previously known as CAPR).

In 1999, Gobblefest expanded from a one day event to a three-day festival, showcasing a wide variety of alternative music artists across a myriad of different venues. Today, Gobblefest continues as an integral component to the local music scene.
